OK another question about Cats...

I go into the petstore and I see (for just about every fish) a temperature range with 82F as the max... even for catfish be it Cory or Pleco. Then I check online and see most sites recommending a max of 77-78F.

Due to room temperature my aquarium is set for 77/78 on a cool day- but when it is warm outside the heat of the room raises to 80F (despite A/C) - when we had several hot days in the mid 90s in a row the tank temp would spike up to 82F in the afternoons (and drop back to 80 at night).

I'm considering a Bulldog Pleco or Bristlenose Pleco in addition to a school of Cory.

Are these temperatures going to stress my cats? Which Plecos and Corys do best at these temps?

I'm assuming Aeneus and Sterbai- I really like the Pepper Corys though. :(

If they won't breed at these temps- that's fine- it's a community tank anyway (although babies are welcome). I just want the fish to be happy and healthy.

My tank gets a little above 80 when it gets warm, all my cories are fine, including peppered, and the aeneus spawned in those temps.

I do think it might get warmer in the middle of the day in the summer, I'm planning on sticking some frozen water bottles in the filter if I need to. You can also blow a fan across the top if you don't have a hood.

I've kept anaeus, sterbai and bristlenose in my 86F discus tank without issue. And summer time my tanks are all at lest 82F without issue, all with cories and BN's.

Many species of cory do well at those temps any of the aeneus sterbia at least mine enjoy it warm. I have a problem keeping my temps down in the fish shed sometimes. I blow fans across the tanks in the warmest part of the year. [july august] here in MD. My shed can get to 90 inside even with the ac going tank temps can rise on the top row to 86 on a bad day. This happened twice before I figured out how to cool them.

The only cories I have ever had trouble with at high temps are pandas and weitzmani.

Great! I'm relieved to hear that! I really wanted some of each but didn't want to shortern the poor things lives or stress them too much.

Especially good news if that means I'm OK getting Peppers too- as they're my favourite Corys! Eventually the aquarium is moving into the living room (where the AC does a better job of maintaining temperature) so I can keep them more at their prefered temperature range.

Thank you!!!
