Catfish Emergency

I have safely treated a tank with Pictus Cats for ich with two teaspoons of salt per gallon. The higher temp will help the ich go through it's lifecycles. Just make sure you have enough salt to wipe the ich out. When you see the ich leave the fish, the treatment has just started, so don't remove the salt yet.

Actually, it was hardly any at all. :) I just saw a couple white salty specks on the school of silver dollars and 1 or 2 specks on the gold gourami. I wanted to nip it in the bud. I did say two TEAspoons per gallon, not tablespoons. :) I followed the amount stated on several online articles, everything went great.

Haha god no, I'd have fish jerky!

3.5 tablespoons for the entire 20 gallons. The catfish is beginning to clear up, the S. Luec. still has his 3-4 dots of it but I will keep the temp/salt going for atleast several days after I no longer see it. Everyone seems less strsesed thus far.

*EDIT*

I just want to comment since Ich is such a popular problem faced. I have used meds before with the malachite green and was nervous using it, and was at first skeptical if salt/heat would work but it's already working! I also like to try to avoid as much medicine as possible without depriving my fish when its needed so this was an interesting and natural method. Def. recommend heat/salt to anyone treating ich!
