catfish for SA/CA cichlid tank

I'm getting ready to start stocking my 150. The plan right now is a pair of gold severums, an oscar, and maybe some t-bars or managuense cichlids. I'm looking for some catfish that will hold their own in this tank. the only thing that comes to mind is a few pictus cats. What other options do I have in this tank for bottom-level fish? I'm not really interested in plecos, mostly catfish.

Synodontis tend to do really well in SA/CA setups if raised with them. i would skip out on the managuense though, too big and aggressive for everyone else to be in there too.

Syno's are African not SA/CA.

i never said they were, i said they did well with them. and the original poster was asking for what would go well with what was listed (which Synodontis spp. do very well), didnt say anything about being biotope specific.

Yeah I forgot to put that in my original post...Its not really a strict "biotope" tank persay, but I would like to keep it in the south/central american vein.

are you wanting something to help clean or just like catfish?

plecos may or may not be considered a catfish. catfish to me are bottom dwellers with long whiskers (hence the CAT part of catfish) that are usually predatory. i consider plecos as "algae eaters" or "suckers". when someone says catfish i dont think pleco should pop into your head.
