I'm hoping that by posting I can get rid of the message at the top of the page reminding me that I'm just being a useless drag on the AC server :silly:
I'm Melissa, total fish newbie. My husband wanted to set up a small tank for our 3 year old son and after a lot of reading we settled on a 40 gallon tank. We did a fishless cycle and then added a couple of danios once the numbers balanced out.
Our current residents are 5 zebra danios (2 red, 2 green and 1 orange) and, as of today, 4 dwarf gouramis. One of our danios had turned into a total punk and we almost took him back earlier but we added the gouramis and suddenly he has remembered his place in the world. The danios are all schooling and taking turns picking on each other as we'd been hoping for and the gouramis seem pretty comfortable as well.
We are considering adding pearl gouramis, glass catfish and some ADFs. The ADFs will likely be the next addition, we want to give our danios some time to grow a bit bigger before we add the pearls.
I've not mastered photographing the tank or fish so this is the best I can do for a picture.
