I'm looking into getting some Celebes Halfbeaks for my 29 gal. planted tank. I've been researching on the net, but have found very little info on them.

I understand they are carnivores, but are supposed to be peaceful community inhabitants. They come from the same geographical area as my honey gouramis, so I think they should coexist well, but am looking for reassurance on this. Also wondering what the best food for them would be. Live food is best from what I've read, but they will also take flakes. Any ideas on what live food would be best suited for them? I've heard fruit flies are excellent, but I don't like the idea of having fruit flies all over the place. Perhaps the wingless variety would work well?

I'm wondering if anyone here has kept them before and can offer some information. Any info at all would be helpful!

Nobody?

I guess nobody has experience with/knowledge of these fish? I guess they aren't all that common in the hobby from what I've read.

I did find a little more info on them. They like well planted tanks, so it sounds like they'll feel at home in my setup. Also, they like all kinds of live food......as long as it floats or won't sink too quickly. They are supposedly quite hardy, except that they are sensitive to any fluctuations in ph. So when I get them, I will have to acclimate them extremely slowly to my water conditions.

Just thought I'd share what bit of info I did find, in case anyone else is interested in these unique fish.
