I hadn't been in my LFS in a few months and 'paid' a visit their last week, just intending to browse of course. I wound-up leaving with 3 celestial pearl danios for my planted 10g that's mostly loaded with red cherry shrimp. Those tiny buggers are so delightful, I went back and picked up 5 more today. $7/ea. Yikes. Real slow time for the LFS, but they've always got some intriguing stuff. Right next to the CPDs were some scarlet badis. Man those are cool little guys too..
 
Good find! Yeah I love these little fishies. They are very active and not shy at all. I've called many times to see if my shops had CPDs and the answer was always no. But last week I saw some but they have them as microrasboras, so the employees don't know that they are CPDs. I might get more females because I like their shape better than males.

I found those fish to be shy and always hiding out in the plant thickets. It sounds like your setup is more CPD friendly than mine was.
 
heck yea man, i wanted to get a few CPD for my 110, then i saw one in person, holy crap their small. Decided not to get any for the 110, but im setting up a 20 long right now and ill for sure get a few of them for that. Epic looking fish. I had a small school of regular danios, and it was very frustrating how aggressive they were with each other, the biggest one killed all the others. CPDs arent aggressive at all.

i plan to get a few CPDs and a small school of Ember Tetras for ym 20L
 
Great fish, great set-up with the CS. If that's all you have, no need for a heather. My experience with that is the fish gets shy if housed with active swimmers.

7$ do seems a little pricey.
 
Thanks all. Yes, they're a bit skittish in that when you first approach the tank, they'll dart away, but within seconds they come right back out.

I think they're perfect for a 10g or 20L setup given how small they are. You'd never see them in a larger tank. They sure don't look that impressive in a LFS sale tank, but colored up nicely once in their new homw. I'm sure $7/ea is on the high side. Most things are at my LFS. Good product though and any issues he'll straighten out right away.
 
That's not a bad price. When they were first available here in the US they went for $22.50 each.....

They can be a bit of a challenge to produce in quantity so it keeps the price up.
