Centerpiece fish for 55 gal. need ideas

Acies would be pretty.. and would do great with the barbs

I would get 3 though not 2... and they WILL eat the smaller tetras... so you might wanna get 3 acie, and some more barbs and a pleco and call it good
 
How about a pair of Angel fish? They are cichlids, larger (if you buy them med or large sized) than the other fish, and won't bother the other fish. OTOH, they could be bothered by the barbs. Any other opinions on this?

No Angels. Not a fan myself and don't want to temp my barbs that much :). Plus we're getting my wife a dedicated Angel tank soon.

Hrm, that's a pretty good idea. Guessing 1 male and the rest females? I could handle three of those and maybe another 4 or 5 barbs (albino maybe?).
