Centerpiece Plant for 15 gallon

I don't want stem plants. I learned to dislike them long ago. (irrational of me I know, but c'est la vie)

Or a beautiful Kleiner Bar Sword, one of the best plants I have ever seen for ease of care and deep red, maroon and green colors. The leaves are thicker than other swords so my plecos do no harm to them while constantly sucking film off the leaves.

LOOKS GREAT DEBBIE! That is a dwarf species and will stay smallish. But I wouldn't do that either. Your tank sounds like it will be beautiful, but its small. Stay to smaller leaf sizes to give it a bigger appearance. If you put in a sword, even one that stays to 6" -8" its still going to ruin the scale you have envisioned.

I would go with crypt wenditii- they do not need shade, and neither do your anubias, I grow them both in high light tanks. The crypt affins is a VERY beautiful plant, but you need a tall tank to appreciate it.

Thanks! That's only the beauty I keep in my 10G pleco fry tank. The larger one is in the 75G and I have a few young ones in other tanks. Love them!!!!:grinyes:

How tall does that get?

My issue with most crypts is that a large portion of what you see (if it's a shallower tank) is the stem. The leaf is farther up, and I don't think the petite nana gets tall enough to hide the stems and just show the leaves (I have some wendtii in my tank now).

I have a ton of different varieties of crypts and the only one with long stems with leaves above is the red wendtii. All my others are bushy from the base of the plant at gravel level on up. My shrimps love to hide in the base of the crypts so I even tuck moss in there for them.

I'd go with a needle leaf java fern. And I'd probably do a plateau... if you have it slope back too much back there, you'll never keep substrate on the top, it will be a constant battle against gravity. Plateaus really add more dimension to the tank, more so with smaller, more curious fish, and especially with bottom feeders and inverts.
