Centrepiece fish with neons

Awesome! I don't think I've ever seen them at my LFS though, so are there any other types of rainbows that would work?

And I would get a pair; it might make me a little OS but I can work with that.

Turquoise rainbows are also very beautiful and have a florecence on thier head that is spectacular. I also have a small group of dwarf neon rainbows that are also very pretty.

Boosemani get to big (@ 6 inches) and are very active (as are all rainbows), plus you have to have 6 or more of them (6 6inch fish in a 29 anyone?). Turqoise, although not entirely to big for your tank(4 inches), but having the proper school will leave you with about 2-3 x the fish you should have in your tank (no on them).

I only have two rainbow's and there fine. I know it's best to try and recreate conditions that they like in the wild but I'm not one to say its a nesisity. Now that I have said that I wouldn't really keep rainbows in there as centerpeice. They are far to active to be considered that. There are some cool oddballs though that would work like the african butterfly fish, african leaf fish, and a few others. Browse around at some of the online fish stores and see what you like. Even if you LFS doesn't have it if there half way decent they can order it for you.

Allright, cool. Does anyone else have some other oddball fish or anything else they think would work?

And I'd also like some other opinions on the Rainbow fish thing, cause right now its kind of inconclusive. Though I do lean to them not being quite right.

No cichlids huh? Well that sucks.

in my 75g I have a few rainbows of different types and they all seem happy. It maybe that the different types are making things ok

I have

4 Bosamoni

3 touquise

2 dwarf neons

2 not sure name....long skinny, black vertical stripes and red short tails.

So overall 11 rainbows but no more than 4 of any type.
