changing color gravel?

In my tank i have the natural sort of color gravel and was wondering if i was to buy a bag of dark gravel (black or something dark) and mix it with the existing gravel would that make it look darker?

Not really. It would be mottled. It might look darker from a distance, but I'm talking like, 50 feet.

so it would be better to just replace it all with darker stuff?

I think it would be best to replace it all. The speckled look doesn't appeal to me.
