Well, after somthing ripped through my tanks and wiped out over half my fish, I am slowly rebuilding my tanks but want to make a few changes. First to my 55, which specs can be seen in my sig. I am currently running a Fluval 304 and an AC70. However my AC is on its way out i think. So i was planning on going with an XP1 to aid the Fluval, would that be sufficient? Next is my 42, which is currently under filtrated, for this i was planning on going with an XP2, would this one be sufficient?

Thanks for your help.

i would go for more if you can afford it, an xp3 for both. That way if you have a filter failure your back-up filter can provide enough on its own. I use an xp2 on a 36g. In conjunction with your other filters it would be sufficient, but more filtration is always better. The rena's have an adjustable flow so you don't have to worry about too much current.

Get a xp3 instead of a xp1. Think about it, how often is it that you replace a filter? midaswell go with a better one eh? also the xp3 is only $30 more dollars for 100GPH more, get the xp3! if too stong, just use a spray bar as everyone says..good luck!

xp1

xp3

The rena's have an adjustable flow so you don't have to worry about too much current.

If you adjust the flow down, doesn't that minimize the extra filtration power the XP 3 brings?

yeah it does, but he is planning on running it in conjunction with another filter. It is just an option, not a necessity to turn it down. I find if I have mine all the way up its too powerful, but I like the extra media baskets for filtration so i have an "oversized" filter, i just turn it down a little

Thanks for the answers guys, i did indeed go with 2 XP3's. now to get them installed.
