I've a tank just leak, so I'm changing to new tank.
Question is, when I remove all the items (sand, gravel, rocks and ...) to new tank,
all the items need to do a cleaning before putting to new tank?
If I cleaned it up, I will loose all the beneficial bacteria right?
If I don't, I will saved the cycling process?

you can clean everything, just don't use soap - rinse well in the old tank water or tap water. however - do not do anything to your filter, and make sure you dechlorinate the water in the new tank before you turn your filter on. almost all of the good bacteria live in there.

If everything is going into the new tank, I would just rinse it in the old tank water. Do not use tap water. Bacteria live on all surfaces, not just in the filter, and by far, depending on your filter, not the most.

Leave your filter intact and move to new tank when it is filled and treated. You may get a spike or many cycle, but it should quickly settle out.

Defently use declorinated water to clean. I always make sure it is the same temp as the new tank. You will lose very little of these little bacterias. Just remeber you will lose some becouse when you do the cleaning you are also removeing some of there food source (This is good though). So you should still wait a while before adding new specimens to your new tank. Stick with your current ones. I would also recomend that you get them used to the new water through a trickle system. You can acumilate them a little faster then normal though becouse the water source used is the same as what they are used to. Just make sure not to give them a temp. shock.

Good luck and fix that old tank don't just through it out.

Thanks to all of you. I've done changing to my new tank.
Normally when setting up a new tank the water stays cloudy for couple of days even weeks, but without loosing the bacterias my water stays clear. :dance2:
Now I've have to decide what I'm gonna do with the old (leaking) tank.

hamsters!

Where/How is it leaking? It could just be a seal needs to be redone, which is an easy fix. Then you'd have a second tank to play with :D
