Currently I have a fish tank that I would like to raise the salanity in by a considerable amount.

If somebody is turning a freshwater tank into brackish, or brackish into saltwater what would be the best way to acclimate the fish in the tank to the kind of water that tank will be?

I've heard that the drip method is best, but I have no idea what that is or how to do it.

Well, if you have a brackish tank, make sure that the fish can tolerate full strength seawater. Many do not. Obviously, you cannot do this with the vast majority of strictly freshwater fish, so I don't even recommend attempting it. If you are trying to raise the salinity on marine and brackish water systems, the best way is to actually occasionally top off with saline water. I would mix a bit of full strength seawater and add a bit to the topoff every few days, noting any reactions or stress. Just be sure when you do a water change that you match the salinity as much as possible, otherwise you may shock something or be counterproductive. This all assumes, however, that the general tank setup is already ready for whatever you are trying to do. But you could easily extend this to a quarantine or holding system, gradually bringing the salinity on par with the display. Again, be careful, as this is a giant osmotic change.

Edit: Gah, ninja'd!
