changing up my 70gallon, need ideas!

Hmm, what about if I tried collecting some of my own rocks? Scrubbed them and boiled them to be sure they're clean?

Also, what cichlid work well in a 70gallon? L36"xW18"xH25" is my size... I'd like as many as possible.... love the yellow labs i believe they're called? and the zebra looking ones...

Yellow labs are a great choice! I found that they were a lot less aggressive than many other ciclids I tried. I enjoyed the convicts and the green severums very much too! With the convicts, be prepared to find homes for hundreds of babies! And check out brichardi's (not sure my spelling is perfect on that!). They stay small, a lot of them have beautiful blue eyes, and a beautiful white/pink sheen to them. We nicknamed them "pearls". They are the only fish that my pleco never got their eggs when lights were out! I didn't even know they spawned until all of a sudden I'd find a cloud come up from the bottom of the tank. That cloud would be 100+ teenie weenie fry. Couple weeks later, there'd be another cloud...new brood and the first brood, small as they were, would help protect the new brood. And you can't believe how much gravel these small fish can move around. If some of the gravel is too big to move by mouth, they push it! They are all long lived fish too. After 6 years, I finally gave my mated pair of severums away, they were huge and did so much splishin n' splashin in my 72G when they were in the mood to mate, I was afraid they'd get hurt on the rocks. Could never have a planted tank with these cichlids always rearranging the gravel .... and I so wanted live plants! Now I have discus and I keep preaching birth control to them! :grinno: My bristlenose plecos are spawning but I told them they could!:y220e:

when it comes to cycling i use stuff from my old tanks too, and let it run for a couple of weeks. the cycle was done when i posted the first time.

#5 has holey rock in it. Search for an extremely unusual piece of driftwood to kick the tank off!

I've always been a sucker for tanks that stay in their own biotope, so here's a farly simple - and easy to find - indonesia setup.

11 tiger barbs
5 checkered barbs
5 pearl gouramis
5 coolie loaches

The poor, misunderstood tiger barb... he gets no love...
