Charlotte, NC area fish stores??

Frank and Peg's

I can't believe nobody has recommended Frank and Peg's. It is a little bit smaller and the inventory of fish is not huge like Fintastic but it's a great store. They can order just about anything you want and have it in no-time.I've been going there since I moved to Charlotte 9 years ago. The owners name is Witt he will always take time to answer questions and guide you in the right direction. Laurie, Nick, and Terry all seem to have their specialties and somebody there will be able to help you. The prices are also very good. It is one of the last true "mom and pop" stores left and I always encourage people to go there. The great thing about Frank and Peg's is that the service goes beyond the sale. Another great thing is that they know their customers by name. You really won't be disappointed.

It is at the corner of South Blvd. and Archdale Drive in the Starmount Shopping Center. (704)553-1839. Tell them you heard about them from Rob.

Urk, yeah, frank and peg's sometimes has good fish. Ocassionally I've been in there and half the stock is floating belly up. It's just too cramped to shop comfortably though.

Frank and Pegs is nice for customer service, but I havent gotten many fish that have made it. Fintastics is nice, but over priced and customer service SUCKS...I like going to Greensboro to Aquamain's, good selection and customer service. A bit further drive, but IMO well worth it

if you are looking for larger aquariums and into road trips - in Greensboro there is a place called Aquamain that has some awesome commercial type used ones!

They have one 210 gal with sump system and REAL NICE cabinet and canopy for about only $2,600.00 and an awesome 1/2 circle one and BIGGER ones too!

Heh, if you're gonna road trip for big tanks, go the other direction, out to glasscages.com in tenn. Big tanks, low low prices. They also do custom builds, but it's a heck of a drive

I live in greensboro and let me tell you Aquamains used to be my numba one lfs until they dissapointed me in ordering an RO/DI unit that was 1 overpriced and 2 I had to pay the labor upfront total cost 420+ dollars 2 weeks later after 5 Plus phone calls regarding the unit (I had a 240G half full with 2 power heads to move the water around waiting to get this unit all my LR and LS was about to die) I gave up on them walked into the store and demanded my money back as to the manegment said that they would only refund me HALF of the money at STORE CREDIT!! :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: After a little muscle flexing they refunded me the whole amount. The problem with aquamains is that they know they are the ONLY fish store that has SW fish (that they OVERPRICE) and know that if you dont want to drive far you will go to them, the AM staff are a bunch of SH**heads but the PM staff are very nice, But Now I go to NC Aquarium in kernersville, or I drive an hour to our capital to Fish World. I always spend a pretty penny at raleigh but WAY worth the gas and time to get QUALITY and GREAT C.S.

If you travel to Raleigh area - between NCSU and Cary there is a place called Fish Pro's - they have EXCELLENT C/S!

Not all of em, I blew 150 on sultan and nugget plecos, to have no survivors in two days. Store return policy? They wanna test your water before they give you your money back... said my water was bad... My home liquid chem tests said it was fine, and oddly enough all my other fish were dandy. End result, no money back on fish that died within 48 hours. Great place to window shop though, and I've gotten healthy fish from them in the past. Also, one of the only places to get really big driftwood in the area.

I've gotten 2 clown loaches 6 harlaquins an 2 fire red gouromis from them all lived , the Cardinals they special ordered for me i took 4 , 2 lived they are hard to put into a tank ,i have found , none ever live from pet smart. An why the no stock, an special order on cardnials i asked , they said , CAUSE they die. And i have not gotten any thing i did not want in my tank from them either, as for petsmart there gouromis have intestenal dieases an parasites why the gouromis never live past 3 weeks, an there cardinals come with Ich, an normal, a site of dead fish in tanks is common.
