attic? how about on the roof...while you are at it you can take advantage of solar heating to keep your tank warm 
If you need an even quicker (but ugly) solution (maybe a plant tank, qt tank, etc) you can use a 2 liter pop bottle, layer it with your favorite filtering media then either pop an air stone into the bottom of it or connect a power head to it - make sure you poke lots of holes into it
