Cheap

to buy a 50 gallon tank your looking at walmart to have the cheapest price for the tank and top. If your not looking for the top to be included the petsupermarket which just opened here has the tank for like 80 dollar range. They were cheaper than walmart for 10 gallon tanks also so I suspect them to have fairly reasonable prices on all of there tanks. Ordering tanks online per my research remember google is your friend. The likelyhood of finding someone that is willing to ship is a problem. Unless you are doing a huge setup like in excess of 200 gallons your not going to find anyone to ship to you.

If you are located anywhere near nashville try this http://www.glasscages.com/ They will also bring your tank to a show near where you live if you can wait. I own two of their tanks ( 115g and 67 g)and am quite happy with these tanks, but have only owned them a short while so I am not making a strong reccomendation at this point.
If you aren't near nashville, or an upcoming show shipping is the killer, but hapy hunting never the less.

Just to be clear, do you want a 50-gallon aquarium or a standard 55-gallon aquarium? I am just curious… Wal-Mart carries 55 Gallon kits, but in the end you loose big time because (in my opinion) the rubbish that they include with the “kit” is inadequate, cheap, and economical to say the least.

50-gallon,NO cheap wal-mart crap for me.:D

Very good job! You learn well… (If only everyone could, then maybe Wal-Mart wouldn’t be selling aquarium stuff)

I find Wal-Mart’s aquatic items no cheaper (price wise) than many other stores; I have been there and priced things before. You just have to know where to look for certain merchandise.

It is possible to ship an aquarium that is 200 gallons or more. They shipped my 240 gal by freight shipping all the way from the east coast.

-Anyway, if you want a full 50 gallon setup, they have one at petsmart or your LFS. Too bad my LFS's aquariums are way too expensive compared to other places, but you can try to bargain with your LFS :D.

I live in georgia I wonder how much it would be too ship a 50 gallon long, the tanks only $60, how did you get yours?

I've never been able to find any new tanks cheaper than at my LFS. (I share AFG's disdain for WalMart fish gear.) If you live in an urban area, you may be able to find used stuff in the classifieds, but that's not really an option if you live in less populated areas.

I'd be interested in hearing good prices for online/shipped tanks, to see if they really compete with locally purchased tanks.

Orange ~ I don't know where you live in Georgia, but I did a search for PetSmart stores and found these ones (near Mason GA... Mason was the only city I could think of, I don't know why Atlanta didn't pop into my mind)... Newman, Douglasville, Fayetteville, Hiram, Columbus, East Point, Southlake, Mcondough, Midtown Atlanta.

I bought my 29 gallon set up at PetSmart 4 years ago. I forget what I paid, but it wasn't more than $200 for tank, stand and other things that I needed (got an extra filter, better heater, gravel and decorations, food and fish).

This looks like a really nice tank, but it's acrylic, which is more expensive than glass, but more durable (though more prone to scratches). $230 doesn't include stand, but Free Shipping.

Good luck!
