anyone know where to get inexpensive par meters?

i know, i know... oxymoron, but i'm looking, pricing, searching and my budget is killing me right now. i might be able to pull off what i've found but it's pending the outcome of several things.

i've got vehicles in the shop, new wardrobes for the whole family, tools for work for the wife and i, etc., etc., and so on. so, i really could use a deal. :help:

Group buys can get the cost to about 200-220 if you get on in one of those, you need 40 units basically.
Otherwise, about 300-350$ is typical. The lux meters run 100$. Might as well go with PAR if you spend that much, then rent it out or go in with 2-4 folks and share.

i did notice the last one didn't go too far... not enough participants. it would be awesome to make it work but i don't think enough people would be familiar with me to put their trust in it. maybe i could pm a couple mods/top sellers on some forums that would be willing to get involved.
if i could get the right participants to "endorse" the idea should i pm you at a later date?

see the thing with those its good when you are setting up a tank and here and there to check the bulb life but its not very cheap. its a nice tool but us planted people are really lacking on that side. i know reefers have more par data and info out there. i was thinking about getting one but someone donated one to the local plant club i used to support and go to. worst case for me i can get someone to borrow it for me.
