Ive been on the forum for a few months now, With lots of water problems..Lighting problems and Dead Fish...and it seems like now i have just started being able to get a good handle on things..

Ive kept fish most of my life but never had as many issues as i did when i moved to california and had to deal with the tap water out here...I have to buy RO water from the local water store ect...Had the hardest time keeping neon's alive...But not im doing well!

I bought some subwassertang and Java moss from some members here on the forum. Thank you! and some red Cherries ...ect..

I figured i would share my tanks with you all.

First tank is my 10 gallon "hospital" tank ...I dump all new fish in this tank before transferring them to the 55 gallon..Just in case they are carrying something nasty. The smaller tank is way easier to manage then the 55 gallon....Right now im trying to QT some neon's before transferring them to my school in the 55 gallon....Ive got some oto's, and just added some RCS!

Plants are- Anacharis, Subwassertang and one anubis....Im hoping to carpet the bottom eventually .

Next is my 55 gallon "main tank"....This has been a tough one to keep up ..As plants have not been doing well...I need to upgrade my Lighting system in here before going all out on plants...The idea is a Dwarf hairgrass carpet with Java moss'd rocks...and id like to have some taller plants in the background.

Fish-Neon's, Black skirts,red lamp, Cory's for now.

I really, really hope there are holes in the lid of that jar... and that you do daily water changes...
 
lol of course :)

BTW that jar is HUGE...the betta in it. MY GF brought home from work..somebody didnt want it anymore and the betta is massive...I would put him in the tank but hes got an attitude problem and wants to pick a fight with me everytime i stand up lol
 
Really nice tanks! Great job! One suggestion....put a background on the 55! Just tape some black poster board on there! The difference will be amazing!
 
Lol hopefully..I am looking to breed an army...and take over the world...lol. Gonna wait a few weeks for them to get bigger before giving the GF some. They are so small right now lol.
 
Tanks look really nice. I would make a couple of suggestions though.

1. Get a 5g or something for those bettas. They don't belong to jars. Pickles go in jars, not fish.

2. I wouldn't do all the decorating in the QT. The problem is what happens when you do get a fish that has a disease or something. You treat them in the QT which is great, but then you have to break down the entire tank, gravel, filter, etc... and clean it all out so you don't infect the next fish that comes in the tank. It's usually much easier IME to have a hospital tank that's just bare bottom w/a simple filter like a sponge filter and a heater. Maybe one or two fake plants and fake rocks that you can easily bleach if necessary.

3. You need to give me some of your aquascaping skills. I try and none of my tanks look like yours.
