Check out this cold marine reef tank

Are you able to keep the sponges alive indefinitely, or do they slowly shrink and eventually need to be taken back to the ocean? I read (David Wrobel) that sponges can't be kept long term (at least California sponges). Do you feed them, or just let them fend for themselves?

Hi Chilly,
Sponges are always the hardest to keep, but I love their colours and texture...I put them in a high water movement area and feed them with clam juice from a turkey baster...about once a month....they eventually do fade a little,although I have managed to keep them healthy for many months. As soon as they start to lose their colour I put them back where they came from....no harm done!!
 
Out diving again....plankton everywhere!!

The seas are really calm at the moment, although getting cold now as we head into a Southern Hemisphere winter.
I was surrounded by plankton today, so netted a few hundred for the tank...a feast for all the jewels, as well as the other inhabitants!!
I've tried to get a few shots and am downloading a video for Youtube,which should be online in a while....hard to show their movement with still shots!
Also a few more specimens....the tank is about 90% full now.
