I just added a check valve to my air pump. It seems to have reduced the air flow quite a bit. I'm not worried about the fish; with my Eclipse 12 system the filtering process is supposed to aerate the water well enough that you don't even need a pump. It is really just for visual interest. I just wonder if it will damage the pump if the air flow is restricted.

Reduced it? Wow, do you have it facing the correct way?
I double checked, and yes, it is facing the right way. Just not as many bubbles as before. Actually, from a visual standpoint I like it better.

well, there you go then. I have only one airpump on a small tank for a betta and I've never run it without the check valve, so I don't know how much it would slow it down or not. That may answer the damage question too.

I just made a DIY CO2 generator, and added a check valve. I used the scientific  test of blowing air through it just to see if there would be any flow restriction and found that it will restrict the flow a bit. I guess it's normal.......I'll see how it works out.
