ammonia and nitrite would be preferable . it is just a precaution .

It's been 3 days of 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, <5 nitrates, so I'm going to figure the filter grew to handle the multies just fine, and test nitrates 1-2 times a week to see how those are doing. I'm planning on adding some more plants soon, so hopefully they'll suck up even more nitrates.
