I keep my RCS in a 5.5g and they have been breeding fine. Try to keep some moss in the tank? They seem to love it. Also agree that it might have been the temperature and PH, both a bit high. If they're active, they're healthy. Good luck!
Ok so its been over a month now and still no berried shrimp. I have only lost 5 out of the twenty I had.
I did a big change yesterday.
Pulled everything out. Empied the tank, got rid of the old blue white substrate gave the tank a big clean out. I kept 3/4 of the tank water and the filters are the same. Kept the anibus but got rid of the blue stricta. I have three new plants in now.
I also changed the light to give the tank a differant look.
I havnt done a params check yet I wanna let it sit for a couple of days then ill see how it all sits.
I thinking that maybe the substrate was dodgy and just too dirty.
I will see how this new set up goes. I cant do any worse than I am already. The only guy in Australia who cant get cherries to breed.
The pics are poor but it gives you an idea of how the new set up looks.
I hardly ever change water. RCS is a "set it and forget it"! Try giving them some almond leaf. It will decompose and they will eat up the leaf. I have two tanks. One with a light and one that is on the bottom rack that only gets very little light. Both are doing great. How many times a week are you feeding and what are you feeding?
i think you are over doing it just put a 10 gal tank with a sponge filter put some moss and gravel and forget about them thats what i did when i raised shrimp
