It's very good she's looking better. Please try to post more photos if possible, as close up as you can.
If this is Columnaris, the salt you added may have actually helped her: studies have shown that salinity has been beneficial in cases of Columnaris in both preventing spread of the infection in exposed fish, and in slowing the spread of the infection in already infected fish. This may have had some part in her improvement if this is Columnaris.
Regarding the choice of meds: You have to decide what's best based on what you can get and how much of a commitment your neighbor is going to make in treating the fish for you on a daily basis.
The Jungle Labs Fungus clear is pretty good, but I think your best bet is going to be Kanaplex if you can fin it. Both in ease of use and in effectiveness.
If you can't find Kanaplex then, Furan 2, and then the Maracyn combo, in that order.
If finding those is going to delay start of treatment for more than a day then I' go ahead and get the Jungle Labs stuff.
It's true, as Whackorash84 has said, the two Maracyns are a good combo and have been very effective in treating Columnaris, though there have been some reports of resistance to that combo. I have used that combo succesfully.
The problem is that a lot of the meds come in little packets that are pre-measured doses to treat a 10 gallon tank. I've used those for a fish in a 5 gallon hospital, but It was difficult to measure the powder in those little packets to make sure I had cut the dose in half.
I had powder poured out on cardstock and worked into lines like cocaine*, lol, to try to divide the powder in half and eyeball it to get the dose right.
I suppose one could pour the packet into distilled water, say 8 ounces, and then pour half into the tank one day and then the other half the next day, and then do keep doing that for the full length of the treatment, but I'm concerned about any degredation in effectiveness if premixed like that. It may be that this would be ok if the liquid is tightly sealed and refrigerated and preferably in a dark container to protect it from light. Even then, I'm not sure if that would preserve the effectiveness.
Kanaplex is a very potent antibiotic and is easier to dose because of the little scoop in the bottle of dry powder. In light of the fact that your neighbor is going to be doing this for you every day I think that would be a little easier to handle, and it is a good broad spectrum antibiotic. It can also be combined with Furan 2 for an added punch.
The Jungle Labs Fungus Clear is a good product and I've used it a few times successfully, but others have given mixed reviews. I offer that as a suggestion if you can't get the other meds, or if you think it might be too big a job for your neighbor to do the meds that are pre-packaged for 10 gallon tanks.
Petsmart and Petco usually carry the Maracyns, and Furan 2, and though it's a little harder to find Kanaplex locally they may have it. I ordered Kanaplex online.
WalMart and Target usually have the Jungle Labs products. I hope things work out for you an your little sick girl gets well quick.
*I am not now, nor have I ever used cocaine... I watch TV.
