Cherry Red Shrimp Tankmates

i have a bowfront 46gal with guppies and cherries all but the tinyist shrimp are all out every day,... and i just sold over 1000 shrimp and still have more so no problem there the shrimp don't care and the guppies know they cant eat them, except newborns and they can't catch them so they don't try anymore, but the babies tiny as they are tri to eat half grown shrimp cause they don't know anybetter but they pick once or twice and then leave.... so it works out good..

Lol, the more I think about it getting rid of my discus to do this seems crazy. But I think I still want to do it.

The problem with gourami's is that they are bottom dwellers(for the most part). I need fish for the top and mid levels. The rummies and shrimp will be enough activity for the bottom.

I have a red flame gourami in my tall (21 inches tall) 36g bowfront. It rarely goes near the bottom. They are usually mid level, and they usually swim just above the tops of small-medium plants. They are a kind of nasty fish, it killed my other red flame gourami and 5 or 6 guppies. It went after my platy fry, but I was able to rescue them.

Rasboras should be fine with shrimp. Gouramis should be as well, at least dwarf gouramis. Think about it this way: pick a couple of good schooling fish, say a school of neons and a school of rasboras. The schooling action in your tank will be marvelous with the two schools swarming around each other. Then, even if your centerpiece is a smaller fish like a dwarf gourami, it will still look big in comparison to the schools of smaller fish.

I'm not sure, but there could be some larger fish that would work, maybe a bala shark? I've not kept them so I'm not sure how they would work with shrimp. Also, perhaps a large algae eater, such as a pleco?
