I had some Red Cherry Shrimp show up today. Juvis. O placed the bag in the tank and the Betta attack the bag tryin got get to the shrimp.

I moved them to the tank with the Plecos until the get a little bigger.

What kind of luck have you all had with a male betta as a tank mate for these little guys? His name is Mad Max.....he's really pissy. Would he probably eat them? And he's also deep red.

This is an assumption on my part since I never actually saw my male Betta eating little shrimp, BUT that fish was the most persistant hunter (again, I'm assuming he was hunting lil' critters, including baby shrimps) I've ever seen! I often found him wedged at gravel level in the thickest tenellus or sagittaria planting at which I thought he was dead. Closer observation revealed he was looking around. He would wiggle and move ahead a little. He would dart forward sometime too (he must have been going after something!). From this, I would advise people to watch their bettas if they are keeping them in a shrimp grow out tank.
I've also heard reports of Bettas actually going after the shrimp so I wouldn't advise keeping one with them.

For those of you wanting to get into cherry reds I can recommend going with Bill. I received my order today and was very pleased that they were packed with care using styrofoam and peanuts and made the long 4 day trip from NY to KY via priority mail in good shape. He even gave me some snails no charge. Thanks Bill for great service. Rick

Got them today, extremely fast shipping and lots of little shrimpies! Amazing packaging. Also how long until their colours come out?

Bill-

PM sent about some more!

You're welcome ric44!

Aussie, as long as they're comfortable and the environment suites them, should only be a matter of hours but could take a few days.

SoCal, yes I have more.

joao, I don't think so, but I don't know. Do you know of any restrictions that might put me in jail?

aardvark, got it.

Feel free to pm me if you're interested :dance2:

beviking, I really don´t konw about some restriction. I have read the law about live animals inportation to Brazil. There´s only have somethings about mammals and reptiles. Nothing about fishes and crustaceans.

Let me look into it. I don't know how long it will take for any shipping service to take. I'm thinking that global priority (4-6 days) will work.
