Yes, bettas will eat shrimp but likely won't be able to handle an adult shrimp at 3/4".

Most fish (including danios) will eat the young shrimp if they can but that helps keep the population in check. A 20gal tank with lots of hiding places as should be able to sustain a healthy shrimp population. I would be sure to keep some sort of moss (like java moss that I include) in a mass/mat large enough to keep fish out of (say a softball size) so the young have a safe area.

Hope this helps!

PM's received, pm's replied to. :)

I always wanted some shrimp for my tank, but what are the condtions for them to live in a tank. Also will they get along with fiddler crabs?

Large variation for water parameters...
-40-90F temps though 68-78F is best
-pH 6.5 and up are fine
-GH/KH aren't too critical but they need some, mineral rich water is generally better

Fiddler crabs are opportunistic and would eat the shrimp if they can catch them. I don't know how fast and cunning fiddlers are so can't comment on the compatability...sorry.
