Cherry shrimp

Good question.......I don't really know how many eggs each female will carry. However, if you wind up with too many shrimp, you could always try and trade some in at the LFS. These shrimp aren't anywhere near as cheap as ghost shrimp and you might be able to build up a store credit or something to that effect if your LFS is willing. But, walk before you run. See how successful you are with breeding them before you start wondering what to with offspring that you don't have yet. As for putting them in with other fish.....the adults will be fine, providing that their fish roomies aren't too big. The young might be eaten, though. If you intend to breed them, either keep them in a shrimp only tank or provide them with lots of cover and hiding places.
They swim rather like chickens fly. In short hops to get from place to place, but they do it, and it's enough that some will invariably be sucked up a HOB.
As for number of eggs, it's a decent number. In a breeding tank with adult shrimp you can have enough to regularily harvest inside of 3 months.
As for price, there are a couple people that sell 10 juvies for $20 shipped in the classifieds of the forums here. I can vouch for John, as I bought a nice set from him not too long ago and they arrived in great condition. Locally at LFS though, Iv'e seen them as high as $8/per, though $4-5 per seems more the norm. I have routinely traded bunches into my LFS for store credit at a rate of about $.5-1 per for colored adults.
I am planning on making an outside pond. I was thinking about raising them to sell. I live in the Bay area cali and the temps are pretty moderate. DO you think rasing them in the pond would be sucessful?
I don't think so. They just like to climb on things, so if you're using some especially fine sand or something you might want to look at lots of plants etc.

I've heard of them being kept in ponds (no frost, lowest temps in the high 30's), so I suppose it's possible. But they do originate in the china area, so they are tropical creatures. I *think* they only breed readily in more tropical temps, but having never tried it or known anybody directly who has, I couldn't say for sure.
