Also...in regards to timing of immunizations...the dosing times are calculated to be given when your childs immune system is able to handle them. In premature infants or otther problems they may adjust the schedule until the child reached a certain body weight.
On the other hand, if premature children and children with chrionic resiopratory problems there is an immunization for RSV, which is a respiratory system virus that young children get and it is deadly. Risk factors include prematurity, chronic respiratory disease, low socioeconomic status, multiple small children in one household and previously having the condition. It's a monthly injection through RSV season, which is Oct through April. Talk to your doctor to see if this is something you child needs.
Also...I had a friend that's husband had severe resipiratory poblems, and was waiting for a lung transplant. They had to modify some of the immunizations that they gave their daughter based on that. If there is someone who is immunosuppressed in your household..talk to your local health department. It wasn't that she didn't get the immunizations, it was that they had to adjust what they gave her and make sure she got all dead virus vaccines instead of live virus. That is the kind of thing your md might not be aware of.
