My friend just gave me a very small 1.5 gallon bowl no filter or heater with plants,a coral, 2 chinese algae eaters (I think chinese, they have spots on them), and 2 african dwarf frogs. They are about 3 months old so everyone is still small. I had intended on giving the 2 adf's and one algae eater to her and keeping one algae eater. We both have 5 gallon tanks (new) with heaters and filters. My tank is 3 weeks old. Hers is less than a week and she has not added any fish yet. I have 2 ADF's and one betta. I had 3 ADF's but just lost one last week. I am worried about the chinese algae eaters because I have read they get quite big and can be agressive when they mature. I would like to get one more frog and I am sure she would like to get a couple of fish to go with her frogs too but if the algae eaters get large and agressive they might be a bad idea for either of us. What should we do? I love my betta and frogs and do not want any harm to come to them in the future.

your "chinese algae eater" will not work in the bowl, it would help however to have a picture or actual species, no fish should ever be in a bowl and your ADF will outgrow it fast. I would upgrade your tank to 10G to keep them.. I would not put anything in 5G unless its one betta...and even thats kinda small for betta

As an addendum to Ghost_knife's post, a tank (vs. a bowl) would accomodate a heater. ADF's and Betta's actually prefer warmer water.. say, 78 degrees.

our tank set up

Thanks for the advice.
Here are the specs for our tanks:
My tank (3 weeks old)
5G
Heater 78
1 betta
2 ADF's
considering adding one more ADF should I include one of the algae eaters?
My girlfriends tank (1 week old)
5G
heater 78
Empty
She wants ADF's I will give her the 2 just given to me
She wants a couple more fish.
Should she take the other algae eater just given to me also?

I think they are chinese algae eaters. One is grey the other is browish. Both are spotted. There are also live plants in the bowl my friend gave me each of us can include a plant into our tank neither of us has any live plants now.

Thanks!
