chinese sailfin catfish (not sure the exact name. its a coldwater species and they get about a foot long)
The Myxocyprinus asiaticus? These are not catfish but cypriniformes but they certainly are not the fish for a private aquaria due to the conditions they are used to unless you are referring to another fish. Any scientific name please?chinese sailfin catfish (not sure the exact name. its a coldwater species and they get about a foot long)
I would probably would go with a SE Asian biotope, myself. it would give you much more options.
I agree with Slappy... this would give you a much wider range of species to choose from :thm:
Seriously, snakeheads are bad news for US ecosystems. They are beautiful and fascinating, but there is a reason they are banned for import. Those that have already made their way into US waterways by accidental or intentional introduction have decimated native species due to their outrageous aggresion, fast growth rate, and fast breeding. The Fish and Wildlife Agency has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to keep their numbers under control.
IMHO, we're currently better off with them being illegal than risking any further accidental introduction into our ecosystems.
I think he may be looking for alternatives since fish from China are rather limited but I do agree with you. They're not from China.I believe that the CPD is not Chinese, as was stated above...I've only seen references to Burmese locales wrt that fish.
