hi! i will be getting a chocolate chip starfish soon and i was just wondering what things i will need in the tank and what food i can feed it. if anyone can help, that would be great!

Protoreastor nodosus - Choclate Chip Starfish

Definately NOT reef safe!!! I've seen a large one eat a cleaner shrimp at my LFS but we weren't sure if the shrimp was dead/ailing as thy're usually OK with inverts.

alright thanks for the info so far! now that i know what they eat, can anyone help me with getting stuff for the aquarium? maybe a list or a few items please. if you can help that would be great! thank you.

Thats ok..

1) 1 - 1.5lbs of live rock per gallon
2) 30lbs of substrate, not crushed coral though..go for aragonite sugar sized grain sand. Helps well with keeping the pH in balance
3) Protein skimmer
4) Powerheads for water circulation
5) Lighting - this will depend if its just fish or you intend to have corals
6) Hydrometer
7) Test kits for Ammonia, nitrITE, nitrATE, pH..Other may be needed if corals
8) Thermometer - not the stick on type, they are waste of money
9) RO Unit to produce clean water
10) A container for mxiing saltwater in with a power head and heater
11) Heater for the tank - best off with a titanium type, 200w

that is the basics..other equipment may be needed, but it does depend on what your going to be keeping in the tank..

I cant really quote you for prices as i am a UK based member on here...There are lots of people from the US who should chime in and give you some costs etc etc
