I recently just purchased a chocolate chip starfish. I feed the fish in my aquarium flaked food. should I put a little extra for the starfish, or should I feed him something different? I dont know if he is eating or not. He is very active, climbs all over the tank and likes to hang out at the top

feed the starfish anything meaty and seafood. your fish will do better eating it too. you can feed squid, krill, silversides, ect. and watch out, they will also eat corals

I feed mine gulf shrimp and squid about every 2 weeks. They can go a long time with out eating if you feed it a good meal. I don't know what size fish you have but if they are small then this starfish could snag one and eat it if it's hungry enough.

I have had a CC starfish for almost a year now. I go to the store and buy 3 to 4 shrimp. I break off a piece of it and place it next to the starfish. He eats it and then particially burys himself. With mine, when he is moving around a lot, it is a sign that he is hungry and he is on the hunt!. I hope this helps you some.

Referring to the choc chip star....

Arent they scavengers and will pick up whatever they can find? Mine usually comes out when it is dark and runs for the rocks when the lights/sun comes around.

If its meaty. They don't eat on algae, fisah waste, and other things like that like snails and hermits do.
