This pic is from just one Lake Effect snow storm and we have many like this in a typical winter. It is not unheard of for a spot in our region to get nailed with 3-feet in one day (four to six inches an hour). 10-inches of snow is nothing. This year, nothing. The lake effect machine is shut down. We have only got system snow this year.

It is pretty but it gets old. I've got a good snow blower This pic is off my deck looking at our pond.

My house (my fire hydrant is buried) - there were no drifts in thises pics either.

I too live here in northern michigan, and we are missing our lake effect snow (gota get out on the snow mobiles soon). The ice fishing seems to be good on the little lakes though...
