I was wondering if there are any shrimp, crawfish that will survuve with cichlids. i was looking at some singaopre flower shrimp. i also found this website but forgot the name so does any one know any good website for inverts:help:

I have some bolivians about 2" there the smallest, i have two about 2" 1/2. and 3 about 3"-4". there mouths are to small for a crawdad and lobster. I keep some snails in the same tank.

I have some creek caught crawfish in with my africans as bottom dwellers. If they still have their claws they will be fine. As well as I have loads of cherry shrimp, amano, tiger, blueberry, and bamboo shrimp in my 125 with my rams. I also have a big vampire shrimp in with my blood parrots and clown loaches cause he was pulling up my foreground plants, that thing is beastly.

Even smaller cichlids can kill larger invertebrates. I would not recommend placing peaceful 'flower/wood/bamboo/' shrimp with any cichlid. That type of shrimp has absolutely no means of defense, and must feed out in the open, where a strong current resides.

Some people have been able to keep shrimp with cichlids, but I would not recommend it to anyone. Other fish to keep away form invertebrates are angles, puffers, loaches, etc.

If you really want shrimp, I also recommend setting up a species, or invert only tank. Also note that invertebrates of differing species have different water requirements. So research prior to purchasing. Otherwise, you may loose money. Good luck!

I was kinda wondering this myself. I've got an 125 african cichlid tank and was thinking about mixing it up a bit. I know a place that sells blue crawfish and I was thinking if maybe getting 2, I guess I should not do that?
I think I read somewhere that compressiceps and calvus (I have both) will try to pull crabs out of their shells too. Is that correct? I guess I'll just stick to the fish. I'm not real big on the snails. A friend of mine got them and they mutiplied like you would not believe, thousands of them. I don't need that mess.
