Can anyone ID this little guy? We just bought a pair at the LFS and they didn't know what it was - just that it is a cichlid - they were calling them "the blotchy ones". Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry that I can't pinpoint its exact species, but I can garuntee that it is a Mbuna.

Just ine question, what kind of cichlids did you buy with it?

Look's like a Orange Blossom Peacock,{Aulonocara nyassae var} Very similar to our's.....But there are several different type's........Another type is a Fuelleborni Cichlid {Labeotropheus fuelleborni} This is also considered an Orange Blossom....Those are the 2 different type's i know of. Maybe LIV2PADL has a few more that he know's of, if there are any...

Id

Look like some kind of OB peacocks, Probably hybrids. The big eyes, body shape and fins make me think that they are possibly male and female very hard to tell at this size.

Looks like the OB in the first picture has more of a rounded dorsal fin than the OB in the third picture. So yeah more than likely you do have a male and a female.....:read: (both of ours look just like the one you have in the first picture) really good pictures of them

No Problem KitKat I sure hope you do have a male and a female. They get to be beautiful adult OB peacocks. These are the only 2 I found on Dr. Foster and Smith web site
