Well after having bad luck with german blue rams i am starting over my 20 long. I pretty much have my heart set on these two stockings. I either want 2 female convicts or a mating pair of kribensis. I am not sure what to get. I am redoing my tank setup because most of my plants have died. I understand that cichlids like rocks and caves and flower pots. Is there anything else these two species of cichlid need? What do you guys think of what i should stock my tank with?

thats crazy i would do a 20long with multiple hiding spots for a pair of cons and be prepared to seperate if things go wrong but thats definitely a suitable tank just no tankmates they are brutal

20 long = krib (and only krib) breeding tank. If you gave them tankmates, it would soon go back to being a krib-only tank.

Cons get 6". Reconsider the closet size there.

Bolivian rams are much hardier than GBRs, and get pretty pretty. Apistos look great too. Keyholes are nice, as well as shelldwellers. You should see a breeding population of shelldwellers.

none of the above
I prefer Rams or apisto's

i dont like rams too sensitive to water conditions. Also about shelldwellers none of my LFS carry them or i would have them in the poll.

Bolivian rams are not very picky about water conditions.
and I have found that locally bred Blues are a lot hardier than imported rams.

while I like apisto's they are somewhat difficult to come by here as well as shell dwellers.
in essence I have similar issues.
