PS. I added salt this water change today because of his NEW injury. Just want assuance that was a good idea. lol. I'll add salt tomorrow and wed too.... I think 3 days w/ salt and if he looks good then no more... Am i getting the hang of this or am I over doing it?
I just read through this thread. Sounds like your yellow boy is going to be fine. I'm so glad for you.
It's funny, isn't it, that we can get so attached to a fish, but we do. They may not have emotions (I'm not too sure of that anyway, lol) but we certainly do.
You've been getting some great help, and you've been working your butt off to save your little friend.
OKAY - eye is perfectly healed. Yesterday he started having redness on his sides!!! On both sides he has what looks like raised scales with red/white on them. I thought we were home free... I think its stable... meaning I cannot tell if its better or worse... levels are good and WC's have been regular every day.
One of the older guys (cichlid lover) at my LFS said they can get that due to stress... that it doesnt spread to the other fish and I should re-introduce him in hopes it will disapear that way... I am a bit stand-offish on this idea... I'd like him to be able to hold his own before i toss him to the wolves... so to speak.
What the hell should I do here? Medicate? Add salt? There are no rocks so there is no way he could have scraped himself.
If its not one thing its another. What the "F" is going on with this poor guy??? Any ideas?
