I am starting a new 55 gallon cihlid tank. what would be some good cichlids to add. I already have a yellow lab and a couple of sunshine peacocks in my 20 gallon theyre all juvies. I would like to get some other peacocks and maybe some other mbuna. What would be some good ones to add?

Heh, stick an oscar in there with a pleco.

Oddball- what's the deal? You know that won't work on about 20 levels, so why would you suggest it? The poster is looking for good info, not jokes.

CCchaos04, its great your getting a larger tank for those fish cus they need it. If you want to get more different types of peacocks then you cant breed them, since all females look the same and hybridization will occur. However, if you werent interested in breeding and wont take any of the fry then you can keep several types of peacocks together with little problems.

The best mbuna to keep with peacocks/haps are yellow labs and P. acei since they can handle more protien in thier diet. I wouldn't reccommend getting any aggressive mbuna for this tank since they might be too aggressive for the peacocks.

what i suggest is getting a few more yellow labs to have a group of about 4 or 5... maybe have 2 trios of peacocks (remembering that even though your getting females you wont be taking fry from them), and possibly a group of 4 or 5 acei. I personally reccommend having only 1 group of peacocks. Its just easier that way....

Have a look at this link: http://www.malawimayhem.com/articles_tank_recipes.shtml

It gives some suggestions on fish for that tank size ;)

whats your problem?

LuvMyKribs,
Thanks for the advice. I'll for sure add more labs and ill probably get more peacocks anyways and just not keep the fry.
