i'm assuming that by "blue cichlid", you mean an African species. if so, the answer is no ... do not mix an African cichlid with a gourami. the latter will be shredded in short order and die of stress or disease.

are any cichlids ok with a gouami??i really like them but i dont want to put any of my fish in harms way.

It really depends on the size of the tank. I have over twenty gourami in the pond swimming with Managuense, Intermedium, Umbee, Zaliosum and a whole host of other fish you wouldn;t even consider in a smaller tank.

55 gallon.

I have two Blue Acara cichlids that do just fine with my two Dwarf Gouramis. This kind tend to be one of the calmer less aggressive types of cichlids and seems to do ok with other fish. Just make sure each type has there own little area of the tank or you could end up with problems. Below is a link to Blue Acara and you can see my two by looking at my avator.
