Cichlids Identification - Please Help

People have kept labs with fronts before, just do so with caution. Some experience no problem, others have had issues with labs becoming fin-nippers toward the frontosas, and in situations where labs are kept with large frontosas I've heard of a frontosa's eating a yellow lab before (they're piscavores, after all).

Were you to get yellow labs, a group would probably be best as that would maximize the probability of them interacting more with each other than harassing the frontosas's.

Yellow labs, like most rift lake african cichlids, are polygamous breeders, so I wouldn't recommend getting only a pair.

What type of food are you providing to your frontosas?

At this point I'd recommend not adding anything until the frontosa's have been established in the tank for a while (3 months). If anything this may provide the frontosa's with a more solid footing in the tank in terms of dominance and may act as a counterbalance to any aggression the yellow labs may potentially exert.

how big of a tank do you have planned? IMO, i would not mix malawi cichlids with tangs. the fronts would probably just eat the labs once the reach their adult size anyways.
