Hey there-recently came across a 10 gallon tank that I'd like to set up. I've never had a cichlid, and was thinking about getting 1 or 2. Are there any cichlids that would be suitable for this small of a tank? I don't know anything about them, but have been going through all the cichlid friends to get some basic knowledge. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

A pair of kribensis would be good- and they're relatively easy to sex.

Nanacara anomala is also ideal.

I think most kribs would kill each other in a 10 gallon tank. I'd not keep them in anything less than a 20 gallon long myself.

N. anomola females would kill the male after spawing in a 10, so you can keep them in a 10 but need a spare tank if the female is overly aggressive. A single male in a 10 with some dither fish would be a great little tank.
