Cichlids in a 37 gallon tank, stocking options

So were talking 5 lelupi and 5 julies would 1 or 2 kribs be ok because after the others pair off 2 will leave ( back to store) going on previous statements. Some one told me they might be fine. Also I was told that after 24 hours I should change the placement of the structures in the tank to help with agression and territories in the tank.

so you mean having 3 pairs of fish? i dont think so, because thats alot of territorial aggression in not alot of space. 2 pairs would really be pushing it, and adding cribs would only make it that much worse.

Kribs have a different strategy towards territorial differences, as for Tanganyika's they usually own a small territory as with others own the Tank.. Choose wisely..

Maybe I miss-understood I thought pitbull saiD 5 and 5 and a possible 3 set. I also though jpappy agreed. I was getting sorta excited like i said before I came from community tanks and I really want cichlids.
So pittbull your saying the5 juies and 5 lelupi's are still a possibility. Let them pair and go from there.

They are usually sissy-afied compared to Tangs but when they breed problems may rise.. The thing with Tangs is that they are very slow growing and with Kribs growing tons faster they will mature faster causing problems and Kribs like softer water compared to Tangs..

All in all my friend you can try it but have a stand by tank ready if all fails..

If you want Lelupi and Julidochromis go with 5 Juvies each and sort out pairs once formed and rehome the rest as they will be targeted for destroyal in such small quarters.. As a third species you can go with a small colony of shell dweller Neolamprologus Hecqui can handle aggression..

Pitt mentioned N. hecqui as the 3rd possible species. :grinyes:

Well I see your up all hours of the night to. So how many tangs do you think (do you agree) (any other suggestions) and maybe i'll try the kribs still up in the air, you've (all) been very helpful. But I think I have my heart set on Lelupi and Julies ( and maybe kribs).
