I was wondering what kind of cichlid i could get for my semi aggressive fish tank. I have read that some cichlids (electric yellow and rainbow cichlids) are generally a bit less aggressive than other cichlids. I wanted to know if I could add any less aggressive cichlids to my tank I know if i get any type of cichlids i may have to get rid of my danios and tetras. so im open to that

I have a 50 gallon tank with
Opaline guarami
Rainbow shark
Angelicus botia
4 zebra danios
10 neon tetras
featherfin catfish
Pleco

I wouldnt put any cichlids in but thats just my opinions

If you want africans, the gourami and neons wouldn't last, plus there's not enough room to add the rocks necessary for mbuna and allow for enough swimming area for the other fish. Most africans would not fit in there with your current stock too. However, shellies would be perfect.

If you want new world, your options increase greatly. Ask on the American cichlids forum for specifics.

There are plenty of Cichlids that would work in that setup with a couple of caveats. The Rainbow Shark and Angelicus are likely to stand and fight if pushed by a territorial fish likle a Cichlid. Aside from the usual Krib/Ram/Apistos you could use Rainbow Cichlids,Herotilapia multispinosa, Checkerboards, or the less aggressive types of "Convicts" like Cryptoheros cutteri, C. nanoluteus, C. myrnae, Honduran Redpoints,or Angelfish.
