Have you tested your tap water supply for Nitrates?

My planted tank levels rose to 50-60ppm, and they're normally around 10-20. Checked the tap water to find these were around 40+ppm! A quick check with the water company yielded them doing extensive pipe replacement works, and due to my area previously being in a High Nitrate Zone (as deemed by the water company), the replacement works were disturbing the sediment in the pipes which has lead to the rise in Nitrates.

The same story may not be applicable to you, but worth investigating. I did add Hyrgrophilia and some more floating plants to soak up the nutrients too (as well as the existing Vallis jungle, Lillies and Swords) though. Can't get it much lower than 50ppm though, but have been advised by the water company that 'normal levels will resume soon'.
