I recently posted a CL ad selling my 55 gallon with the stand and a few extras for $150 to see if I would get a bite. Well, a few days ago I received a response from someone that was interested. The email was nothing more than that. I replied saying that I would be out of town until today and that it would then take me some time to empty it out and get it all cleaned up. I told him that it would not be ready for pickup until sometime next week but I would let them know if they were still interested.
Then I received this email today:
1) Some odd grammar errors ie. using "will" instead of "would"
2) I understand asking for a lower price but adding $50 just for me to remove the ad? Its really odd that he wants to get this item for more than I am asking. I also never mentioned that anyone else was even interested.
3) Check? Overnight payment? Secretary? How about in person...
4) No way I am giving him my address or phone number
5) Never once mentions the aquarium specifically...just refers to it as the "item"
I'm 99% sure this is not a normal CL transaction but I am not sure how to handle it. Do I just ignore the person and hope they realize I know what is going on?
Then I received this email today:
Hello,
Thanks for the prompt response. I am satisfied with the information provided about it at the craigslist. I will love to make an instant purchase, so please do withdraw the advert from Craigslist, I don't mind adding an extra $50 dolls for you to do that so that i can be rest assured that the item is in hand. I will also like you to know that I will be paying via check due to the distance and it will be over night payment. My secretary in the state will issue the check for the payment. I am presently on a business trip and will be back soon. You don't need to bother your self with the shipment. Ok? My Mover will handle that .So I will need you to provide me with the following information to facilitate the mailing of the check. Name, Address and Phone number
