clawed frogs

i have an african clawed & dwarf frog in my aquarium & they seem to really enjoy frozen brine shrimp. if the chunks are big enough they will sink to the bottom where my little guy has a fighting chance of getting some....while i feed my other fish flakes so that they leave the chunks at the bottom alone.

I have a male and female African Clawed in a tank with a Two Spot catfish and two Silver Dollars. All get along very well. My female is 4 inches now and the male is about 3. They do shed their skin and will eat it. This can be a bit frightening if you're not ready for it. ;) They also can have a tendency to escape if frightened so it's good to have a secure top to the aquarium. The African male gets black on the underside of it's front legs when ready to mate. My boy's almost always ready and will sing all night long!! They love some goldfish or guppies as treats, (as does my two spot) but will also take freeze dried shrimp from my hands.

My dwarf frog in another tank has almost never shed it's skin. But when he does my red tailed shark usually takes care of it. :p

It is perfectly normal for a frog to shed it's skin. Some do, some don't. Some do but you don't see. It can happen as often as up to two times per week. Some people think they do it according to weather/seasonal changes.

Mine's only done it twice.
