So Cal
Sorry for a newbie question. Any issues with snails causing hazing of acrylic over time as they graze, feed etc. Thanks in advance.

?? Umm how? sorry never heard of that happening...

Are you sure you are using the correct magnet cleaner? having one too abrassive will cause the acrylic to haze ...losing its polish....

I technique i see used by acrylic users is using filter pads and cutting them to size and placing them between the magnet and the acrylic ...

Your source of hazy i have no clue I can only assume with limited info.

Are you asking if it is possible or are you experiencing the problem. Acrylic tanks scratch easily. As ToeJam mentioned there is a differance in the magnet cleaners used on glass and acrylic tanks. Mag-Float makes both, eg. Mag-Float 130 and Mag-Float 125 are the same size magnet for the same size tanks yet one is for acrylic and the other is for glass.

ToeJam, Bushtech - Thanks for the reply. I have yet to set up the tank. I had been considering planted discus and this topic had come up - link is below. Just as bristlenose plecos will graze, i am sure that molluscs will do the same and had just wondered if this was an issue or not...doesn't seem that way by the replies. I think my problem is that I can not seem to make up my mind regarding what to do with this aquarium. I have always been intimidated by SW/REEF setups and have been doing some thinking this past week about which way to go. Just need to bite the bullet. Hole in my wallet is getting bigger and bigger and.......... Looks like I'll be having another talk with the boss. Thanks again.
