cleaner wrasse

ok this is strange

ive been watching my wrasse a lot latley and ive noticed that he eats the algae i put on the clips for my tangs....he likes it a lot always waiting for me to add it in the morning. i never heard of cleaners eating algae but wrasse do eat almost anything. anyone ever hear of them eating algae?

I had one for a wile, it ate brine and flake so i felt confident buying it. It did a good job supplementing my cleaner shrimp and didnt bother the fish too much. I lost it when it swan in a cave and got stuck turning around. I would buy another one if i find one, well as long as it is eating brine or flake.

Anyways give your fish a few days or a week to get used to him before you rule him out

well all my fish except the mandarin(prolly cause its has that poison slime layer) and my clown allow the wrasse to clean them even my grumpy cardinal and my territorial gramma. he even cleans my firefish and the tangs turn on there sides for him. and i have proof that its doing fine to...lol 5xevy watched him clean and feed on my web cam lol.

mine eats algae i would put on the clip too, so i guess it's normal. i prety much don't know what they don't eat once they eat normaly

Yep- sure did.

I want to add too that that is one of the best-looking Regal Tangs I've seen in a while...

It took a while for my fish to accept my cleaner wrasse. When I had gobies it was amazing to watch them lie still and open their mouths for him to clean inside. Now he cleans my yellow tang (they're best buddies) and my algae blennie (who, if he doesn't want to be cleaned soon let's the wrasse know). My wrasse also loves eating the dried seaweed in a clip and chases my scraper when I'm cleaning the glass. For a little fish they have bundles of character (well I think so.)
Good luck with yours.
