Hi all,

So I have this nasty brown algae that my mag cleaner can't seem to scrape off. Has anyone used anything else that won't scratch the glass?

Thanks!

Yep, you need one of those algae scrubbers. I had black algae on my tank that the mag float did nothing with, $2.99 algae scrubber, some elbow grease and it came right off.

SAE, nerites, dwarf otto, RCS did nothing for my hard green spot algae...i finally used razor blade and it came right off. I would recommend it too. You don't need to buy a special attachment or anything. Just the blade which you can pick up a pack of 8 at TARGET or anywhere else for super cheap. Just use it at a sharp angle and be careful not to cut yourself.

Even an old credit card will work.

My two Oto's went crazy for my brown alge and were doing a great job of cleaning it off before I took out the coral it was growing on.

Get a Kent scraper..

Much safer than a razor blade, and easier to use..
